Winter might seem like a quiet time for photography in the northern hemisphere, but it’s actually a golden opportunity to explore unique themes and hone your skills. Here are six immersive projects to spark creativity during the colder months
1. Create a Family Photo Book
I love creating a photo book for my family every year, and they love them just as much as I do. Winter is the perfect time to go through your favorite photos and memories from the previous year and organize them into a photo book.
My favorite method of creating these books uses the Lightroom Book Module and Blurb. If you haven’t tried either of these before, this is your lucky month! Get to work!

2. Choose & Promote Your Favorite Photos
This is the perfect time to go through your photos from the previous year and choose your favorites!
Once you have selected the best ones, post them to your blog and social media sites, make a calendar with them, and/or print them on canvas to hang on your wall at home or in-studio!
These are great ways to help market your business for the upcoming year!

3. Organize
We all love organizing and decluttering, and now is the best time to do that with your photos.
If you have photos on different drives and need to get them all in one place, or pull 10,000 images off your phone and get them backed up on your computer, NOW is the time to do it. I promise you’ll feel so on top of things when you’re done!

4. Update Your Website and Blog
We all get behind, and likely, that has happened to you during the last few busy months. Don’t get frustrated.
When business is slower, dig in and get caught up with any website, blog, or social media updates you’ve wanted to do. It’s the perfect time to post any recent favorite photos or shoots to your blog. And an even better time to publish those favorites to your website or portfolio!

5. Learn How to Use Lightroom Mobile
Lightroom Mobile is a great editing tool, and Adobe recently released new updates that are game-changing. The slow months are a perfect time to learn this app and get familiar with all the new features that have been released.
A few things you might want to consider playing around with include the new masking features or picking up some of the new mobile preset collections and learning how to use them in Lightroom Mobile.

6. Improve Your Lightroom, Photoshop & Photography Skills
